If you know of any, please drop me a line.

Re: abandoned industrial sites
Sun, March 9, 2008 - 9:29 AMI have a friend who just takes pics of abandoned sites. I often go with her to "hold her hand" because they can be pretty spooky! (not to mention dangerous).
One of the BEST, most "talked about" abandoned industrial site in the area, USED TO BE in Baton Rouge... the Buckminster Fuller's Union Tank Car Dome, and it was destroyed in November by the owners (rail compnay) before it could get on the Nat'l Historic Registry.
You might try getting a GPS and check for cool places on geocaching dot com (I find a lot of cool places with that!)
Or join the "urban explorers network" (see 'urban exploration' on wikipedia form some info) urbanexplorers.net

Re: abandoned industrial sites
Sat, March 22, 2008 - 11:30 PMWow. We hit an abandoned ammunition plant in Indiana on Friday. AMAZING.
and I've got a flickr with a ton of pics of the Baton Rouge dome site. I'm working on a historical preservation paper on it.
Maybe check the Foundation For Historical Louisiana (?)
and search their site for more locales, too.
Just an idea... I don't know where some of the places they mention are...
but maybe you or others do. Chances are, there's something somewhere.
