Mon, September 1, 2008 - 6:01 PMMy mom's out there and stayed home in Broadmoor. She says the ground was bone dry a few hours ago, and the rain and gusts are making for nice weather.
She's weird, but at least she's OK! -

Re: NOLA Gustav news
Mon, September 1, 2008 - 9:06 PMSame here in Old Jeff. No water to speak of, and minimal debris flying in the wind, and our street still has power (knock wood that it stays that way through the night!).

Re: NOLA Gustav news
Tue, September 2, 2008 - 9:26 AMhey yall,
are you talking about broadmoor and old jefferson in baton rouge?
a friend of ours in broadmoor had a tree fall on their kids bedroom. they JUST completed purchase of the house last week!!
luckily, they were not home when the tree fell.
we live in mid city and pretty much everybody except brcc has no lights. Government St. by our lady of mercy school had a tree fall over that blocked all lanes. Coppers working today and he said its worse than Katrina (for us), pretty much as bad as Andrew was. My mom lives off of seven oaks and her street is completely blocked on both ends by fallen trees.
The wind did make for a nice cool breeze, almost enough for a light blanket. now its just hot as hell! ")
how did new orleans do? -

Lots of rain today, but still no flooding. -

Re: NOLA Gustav news
Tue, September 2, 2008 - 1:48 PMIf anyone is in Pearl River LA go down to the school or any of the shelters and offer people a room...they have closed one...giving no one an alternative...if they are on the streets the local cops are harrassing them, telling them to go back to where they came which is NOLA and will not let them back in!... Many are in quite a dilemma of having no where to go in that town right now -
