HI, I have an aerial performance coming up at an event that has a Mardi Gras theme. I'm having a hard time finding music that'll work, so if anyone would like to suggest some music I could check out. I love the upbeat mardi gras new orleans stuff, but it doesn't work so much in the air. I need something that has that flavor and will fit the theme, but with a slower rythym, emotional depth, and more fluid sort of flow that I can dance to in the air. Any suggestions appreciated, thanks, Laura

Re: Music Suggestions
Fri, November 23, 2007 - 11:55 AMIt's not Mardi Gras exactly but Dr. John's "Litanie Des Saints" from "Going back to New Orleans" might be what you are looking for. I could see where several of the phrases could lend themselves to rather dramatic movements. -

Re: Music Suggestions
Fri, November 23, 2007 - 6:00 PMThankyou for the suggestion! It's just what I was looking for- I love Dr. John plus I have an affinity for the spirits of New Orleans which it pays homage to. I like to merge my spirituality and art. Yeh!! I'm going to need 3 or 4 songs cause it's a 20 min. performance- so if anyone else has more suggestions, please keep them coming- thanks, Laura -

Fri, November 23, 2007 - 8:08 PMwell, if you got the right lighting, you can segue from that right into the Meters "Cissy Strut"
There are several other songs that might help you fill in the set list. I didn't know you needed 20 minutes but some combination of
"Tipitina and Me" by Alan Toussaint
Something from the Neville bros. Like "Fallin Rain", "Yellow Moon", "Voodoo"
I used to direct theatre and was something of a frustrated choreographer. -

Mon, November 26, 2007 - 12:47 AMThanks so much- I lucked out getting a theatre director/frustrated choreographer to make me some suggestions. I like these a lot too- going try and play around with some stuff tommorrow in the air and see how it all flows with the choreography I've got. Thanks so much- I so appreciate it!! Laura
