On Thursday, December 4th, join the Cypress Day of Action!

Levees.org will call on Home Depot, Lowe's and Wal-Mart to permanently end the sale of cypress mulch.
Healthy cypress forests are an important buffer to storm surge and can save New Orleans!

We will gather at the Home Depot at 1100 S. Claiborne Ave at 11:30am in Central City on December 4.

(This event is a coalition with Gulf Restoration Network and the Save Our Cypress Campaign.)

In order to properly defend New Orleans from hurricanes, we not only need safe federal levees, but also healthy, functioning wetlands and cypress swamps to bolster our storm protection. But even after the horrors of Katrina, cypress forests continued to be clear-cut solely to produce cypress mulch.
Join us at Home Depot at 1100 S. Claiborne Ave near the Earhart Blvd entrance on December 4 at 11:30am!
We will waive signs, hand out flyers, and deliver a message to the store manager.
Similar events will be occurring all over the country, but the New Orleans action is where it matters most!!!
Want to help but can't make the event? You can pick up the phone and let Home Depot know they should stop selling cypress mulch. Call 800-553-3199, choose option 5, and tell the operator you would like to leave a message for CEO Frank Blake. Say, "Please tell Mr. Blake to stop selling cypress mulch no matter where it is logged."
You can also call these big stores as well:

Lowe's - call 704-758-1000,
and ask to leave a message for CEO Robert Niblock
Wal-Mart - call 479-273-4000,
and ask to leave a message for CEO Lee Scott

You can make your phone calls any day Dec 1 - 4 during business hours. You do not have to wait until Thursday.....
Thank you!
